Welcome to Four Columns Inn!

Four Columns Inn sits atop a knoll overlooking what was once the Winnebage - Jackson Stage Road. Originally built in 1884 by George Rhode, the seven-bedroom inn served stage travelers, many of whom sought out the area's excellent hunting and fishing. A lovingly restored Minnesota farm home, Four Columns Inn offers romantic, country strolls and a good night's rest. For generations, people have enjoyed Victorian-Country hospitality. The Kittlesons have taken this traditional lodging favorite, updated it, and added Victorian touches with antiques, laces, stained glass, and etched glass windows.

The spacious living room, which includes a library and a grand piano, invites you to relax. The focal point of the room is a charming handcrafted circular staircase leading to the five guest accommodations, each with private bath, on the second and third floors. A mural of the Orton Plantation in Wilmington, North Carolina creates a background for the grand piano. The front of the Orton Plantation was the inspiration for the present design of Four Columns Inn.

Whether you come to Four Columns Inn with loved ones or alone, for a weekend or a night, you will find the Inn a peaceful respite from your everyday schedule.

You will enjoy your country homemade breakfast by candlelight at the round oak table in front of the brick fireplace in the Great Room. Or if you wish, you can have your meal served in the 19th-century style Victorian Gazebo located on the lawn of the Inn. The Gazebo features a table and chairs for dining or relaxation, a swing for two, a swing for one and a popcorn wagon. In the gazebo, there is a table and chairs, a swing for two, a swing for one and a popcorn wagon. The gazebo is surrounded by lawn, ornamental trees, flowers and birds. From the gazebo you can see a 40 foot deck, wrought iron and white fences and finally a large metal 100 year old church bell. There are four columns on the lawn by themselves besides the four white columns on the front of the house.

You may also have your breakfast served in the formal Dining Room, on the deck, or in the Solarium -- all with fresh flowers from outdoors or from the Greenhouse.

During your stay you can relax in the oak raised paneled living room as you sit on the sofa by the large library and television. Or if you choose, you may go to the Music Room and listen to 45s played on a 1950's jukebox, enjoy the pump organ and player piano, or experiment with the many other musical instruments. Go to the Greenhouse, which is full of flowers in bloom, and relax in a Redwood Hot Tub.

Four Columns Inn has a distinguished presence in the press, with features in the following publications: the front cover of The Minnesota Bed and Breakfast Book in 2002, Connections by Federal Rural Electric in February of 2000; Country Extra Magazine - March 2002 and a focus article by The Fairmont Sentinel on January 15th of 2005.
